current summer obsession- Cafe au Lait Dahlia

Just as the Dahlia season starts, (naturally) the Cafe au Lait variety stands out of the bunch. It is currently every bride's dream and I promise you, its beauty does not disappoint. It comes in shades of  light pink, peach, ivory, champagne and a few other pastel hues that I fail to describe but oh so heavenly — all perfectly-bridal tones.

They grace us with their presence during summer time and if we are lucky, they can last through October. Their heads can grow about 20 cm in diameter so 1 or 2 stems mixed with other floral beauties of the same shades will be enough to make your bridal bouquet a real work of art.

Not only are they beautiful in bridal bouquets but they are just as gorgeous in large centerpiece arrangements and cater to many different styles: from classy/elegant to rustic/country .. it shines everywhere it goes

Having said that, these extremely ephemeral beauties tend to wilt fairly quickly and come at a very high price, so make sure you factor this into your budget before you decide to go ahead with them.

Mini Flowered Goodies

For this bouquet, it's all about finding beauty in the little things. Little flowers heads like: Astrantia, Cornflower, Scabious, Wheat, Grass.. It's the type of bouquet you can put together while on a road trip through the countryside and make a pit stop by the side of the road to gather these mini goodies. Other flowers you can use are Forget-Me-Nots, Nigella, Lavendar, Poppies, Cosmos, Fountain Grass, just to name a few.

Fondation Monet In Giverny

If you're a nature lover and ever in Paris, you have to visit the Fondation Monet in Giverny. It is a short train ride from Paris. It is preferable to be there before opening times to beat the crowd of tourists, so maybe you can book your entry ticket online before heading there.

Once inside, (little piece of advice), the first thing you do is you skip the house and the first part of the garden and head to the Lilly pond in order to marvel in the magical beauty of this place, in peace.. and to be able to snap a few pictures without any people in the background.

Once that is out of the way, you can then walk back to the first part of the garden and visit Monet's charming pink house with his rooms and belongings still intact. The picture below is the view from his bedroom. Who wouldn't want to wake up to this every morning!

It is very much like walking into a real life Monet painting. It is a wonderful to experience first hand the beautiful landscapes that inspired many of Monet's paintings.

The gardens are stunning, visitors are calm and respectful to their surroundings. The essence of Monet is captured into this magnificent place. Let your thoughts and eyes travel freely through the vibrant colors of complimentary flower combinations.

Definitely worth the visit, especially to escape the hustle-bustle of Paris.

Oh! and, you're welcome!

Buttonholes!

Buttonholes!
What I love about buttonholes (or boutonnières) is that they are 100% unisex. They would look as elegant and charming on a man just as well as a woman. And who said you can only wear them at weddings? I just wish people would wear floral buttonholes more often. They have this magical touch that can bring your outfit to life without giving the impression that you're trying too hard. Here's a small selection of buttonholes that can literally be worn by anyone who isn't afraid to make s a mini statement !

Special Wedding Course - Floral Arch!

What I love about the Special Wedding course, and more importantly, the floral arch exercise, is that the students and I get to design this TOGETHER.

I am always excited to see what everyone brings to the table and how they all collectively make it work into one big design. In this case, it was the a mix of precious flowers and meadow/grass ones, and the result was just gorgeous!

It was such a beautiful day that we were able to design it outside soaking in the sun while passers by were just snapping pictures and complementing our masterpiece. The arch really stood out on Elizabeth Street and I found myself wishing we could leave it there for the next few days. It was great working with these super talented and creative ladies.

It was a long and tiring day but I just couldn't hide my excitement .. I just had to go for the winning/geeky shot after everyone had gone home..

I am really looking forward to the next one!!!! If you are interested, do not hesitate to visit our website www.catherinemuller.com or you can just send us an email for more information on flowerschool@catherinemuller.com

See you soon flower lover!
